on December 4, 2018Nice photo of an interesting plaque. One of the curious things about it is the use (misuse) of the unit 'knot' as a unit of distance instead of as its accepted meaning as a unit of speed or velocity. Maybe members of the D. A. R. at the time weren't up to speed, so to speak, on their nautical or marine terminology.
