Wild Iris
Springerville, AZ - Becker Wildlife Area - The Wild Iris, Western Blue Flag, Rocky Mountain iris, and Missouri Flag (Iris Missouriensis) is a perfectly shaped miniature of the domesticated Iris - which comes from various wild irises. Wild Iris typically has leaves and flower stalk about a foot tall, but it is not uncommon to find it growing to two feet tall. Flowers are typically about three inches in diameter. As is true of many flowers, Iris color variations exist. Link to Photo Without Frame Thank You for Making this Daily Photo the #2 Pick on 09-03-2018

on September 4, 2018Beautiful shot. It's always a thrill to me to see such treasures in the wild. That's where all garden flowers started, after all.

on September 4, 2018Outstanding flower photo. It is nicely framed and tack sharp. The background is nicely out of focus. Well done.

on September 3, 2018How pretty! Love the colors. I had a couple that bloomed this Spring that looked (not same color - just shape) which makes me wonder know if they were miniatures or not. I just thought that mine were deformed for some reason. Great shot.

on September 3, 2018Lovely wild iris. Haven't heard the name Springerville for a long time. I visited there a couple of times when my sister lived there--flew into PHX and rented a car for the drive to Springerville.
