Marion Township, OH - Union Station Museum - The Depot was constructed by The Hocking Valley Railroad with the joint cooperation of the Erie and the "Big Four" railroads in 1902. It was completed and opened to the public in August 1902. It was built with materials of the finest quality. The roof was made of tile, the walls of the waiting areas and also the restrooms were lined with highly polished light-colored marble, woodwork throughout was of high grade oak. The floors were constructed of inlaid mosaic tile in a beautiful pattern. At the ticket seller's window, the counter top was adorned by brass plates which the ticket agent kept shined to a high luster. A work of art for the city to be proud of. Due to changes in the railway industry the last train departed on May 9, 1971.
